Meeting between the Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija P. Petković and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, Deng Li was held in Beijing on 31st of June. In a cordial conversation, mutual satisfaction was expressed regarding the extraordinary relations between the Serbia and China, characterized by a comprehensive strategic partnership, which is given a special quality by the friendly relations between President Aleksandar Vučić and President Xi Jinping. 
 
Deputy Minister Deng Li emphasized that the Chinese side has started intensive preparations for the realization of the upcoming visit of President Vučić to China, on the occasion of his participation in the Third Forum for International Cooperation of the "Belt and Road" initiative. Deputy Minister Deng said that "Serbian President will be welcomed in China like a brother", which indicates the extraordinary respect shown to President Vučić in China.
 
Director Petković conveyed to the Chinese side Serbia's full support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the People's Republic of China and thanked China for its principled support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia. Petković introduced his interlocutor to the difficult security situation in Kosovo and Metohija in which the Serbian population and other non-Albanian minotities find themselves, which is characterized by a rapid increase in violence against Serbs and other non-Albanians in Kosovo and Metohija and the violation of their basic human rights.
 
"In Pristina, there is no desire to reach a compromise, dialogue and de-escalation of the current crisis, which was caused by the Pristina side with its violent and unilateral moves, organizing illegal elections and occupying Serbian municipalities in the north of Kosovo and Metohija. The crisis generated by Pristina threatens to spill over into the entire region", warned Petković and especially pointed out that for 10 years Pristina has refused to form the Association of Serb Municipalities in accordance with the agreement from Brussels in 2013.
 
Deputy Minister Deng Li assured Petkovic that the People's Republic of China will continue to support Serbia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, with clear opposition to Pristina's unilateral moves. He emphasized that the Chinese side supports finding a solution to the Kosovo and Metohija issue through peaceful means, on the basis of Resolution 1244 of the UN Security Council, and he particularly emphasized the support and insistence of Beijing regarding the establishment of the Association of Serb Municipalities, as soon as possible.
