The President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, has received today the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, Chen Bo.

President Vučić and Ambassador Chen discussed the situation in the north of Kosovo and Metohija. On this occasion, Ambassador Chen informed President Vučić that the attitude of the China regarding Kosovo and Metohija was consistent and clear.

“China pays special attention to the current tense situation in the north of Kosovo and Metohija and believes that unilaterally taken action is not in the interest of peace and stability of the region. The international community should treat equally all parties, the double standard is not to the advantage of solving of the problem. The Chinese side respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia regarding Kosovo and Metohija, understands and supports legitimate requests of Serbia, including the ones regarding the protection of security and legal rights of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija, hoping that all agreements of the two parties reached so far would be strictly fulfilled”, Ambassador Chen stated the official position of China.

President Vučić thanked President Xi and China and the Party for the support regarding Kosovo and Metohija.

On this occasion, President Vučić gave to Ambassador Chen the letter of congratulations addressed to President Xi on the occasion of 1st October, the Foundation Day of the People’s Republic of China. President Vučić said that Serbia respected and loved China and that it was determined to cherish an honest Serbian-Chinese friendship, which, among other things, was stated in the letter:

“I am exceptionally proud because comprehensive relations of the Republic of Serbia and People’s Republic of China are at their historic peak, at the moment when I have the honor and responsibility to be the head of the Republic of Serbia. It is my great pleasure to cooperate with You on the comprehensive promotion of the strategic partnership of our countries. I sincerely believe in the bright future of our relations based on steel friendship and strategic partnership and inextricable connections between our two nations”.

Ambassador Chen thanked President Vučić for the congratulations card on the occasion of the national holiday emphasizing that it was a very important year in the Chinese history as the 100th anniversary of the Communist Party was celebrated, and important goals were attained.

President Vučić and Ambassador Chen agreed that joint infrastructural projects made progress in a planned dynamics and at the same time reviewed the plans for the continuation of works on the fast track between Belgrade and Budapest, in the section from Novi Sad to Serbian-Hungarian border.
